On Friday, March 15, a presentation of the book by Luca G. Manenti "Italian Freemasonry, from its origins to the new millennium" (Carocci, Rome, 2024).
In front of a large audience, the author dialogued with Andrea Comisso and Roberto Spazzali on the topic of Italian freemasonry, touching on various historical, cultural and philosophical aspects of the phenomenon. Known and lesser-known facts, from the role of lodges in the Risorgimento to relations with the secular world, were discussed on the occasion, and particularly complex historiographical knots were unraveled, such as the relations between cosmopolitanism and patriotism and the intervention in the public sphere of brothers in aprons.
Freemasonry, beyond the turbulence it has gone through and the prejudices that have accompanied it, has been able to affect the identity of our country.
