The Unknown Soldier and the Heroes' Cemetery of Quileia: book presentation at the Press Club

30 March 2026

On Saturday 10 April at 6.00 pm, the Press Club will host the presentation of the volume “The Unknown Soldier and the Heroes’ Cemetery of Aquileia. Symbolic Stratifications and New Interpretations”, edited by Luca Caburlotto (Zel Edizioni).

The event, with free admission, will feature Roberto Spazzali, Luca Caburlotto and Annalisa Giovannini in discussion with Luca G. Manenti, Scientific Director of the Cultural Association “Manlio Cecovini Study Society”.

The event will provide an opportunity to explore one of the most significant sites of First World War memory, the Heroes’ Cemetery of Aquileia, and the symbolic value of the Unknown Soldier within the context of national history.

The volume is the result of extensive and wide-ranging research based on archival and documentary sources, offering new perspectives on the meaning of the Aquileia site and the figures who shaped its history. Through contributions from several scholars, the book presents an updated view of the memory of the fallen and the forms of public commemoration.

The presentation forms part of the cultural activities of the Cultural Association “Manlio Cecovini Study Society”, aimed at promoting the history and identity of the territory, and offers the public an opportunity for further insight and open discussion.
