Italian Freemasonry. From its origins to the new millennium

21 May 2024
Hosted by Luca G. Manenti

The "Manlio Cecovini Study Society" is organising a series of conferences scheduled to take place on the third Tuesday of each month in Trieste.

The sixth event is set for Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at 6:30 pm at the Antico Caffè San Marco, where historian Luca G. Manenti—the scientific director of the Society—will present his latest book, 'Italian Freemasonry: From its Origins to the New Millennium' (Carocci, Rome, 2024).

The book traces the history of Italian Freemasonry from the 18th century to the 20th century, based on a broad selection of documents, aiming to debunk both positive and negative myths surrounding it, while delving into the various aspects of an institution that has played a role in shaping the biography of the country with scientific rigour.

The event, which is free to attend, will feature a conversation between Luca G. Manenti, Giuseppe Antonione—the president of the Society—and Maurizio Lorber, a professor of Art Criticism History and Methodology of Art History Research at the University of Trieste.
