Hosted by Luca Zorzenon
The ninth appointment of the lecture series promoted by the Cultural Association ‘Manlio Cecovini Study Society’ is scheduled for
Tuesday 19 November 2024 at 6.30 p.m. at the Antico Caffè San Marco in Trieste.
The event, held by Luca Zorzenon, will explore the life and works of the Trieste writer Scipio Slataper.
The lecture, in tracing the life and works of Scipio Slataper (Trieste 1888 - Podgora 1915) in stages and key moments, enucleates some of the important aspects of his cultural and literary activity, in the historical sign of a generation of young intellectuals that in the first fifteen years of the 20th century knew its goal: to build the difficult paths of ‘modernity’.
THE SPEAKER - Luca Zorzenon teaches literary subjects in high schools, now at the Gorizia high school. He has worked in the field of literature didactics, writing in magazines (‘Allegoria’, ‘Chichibio’, of which he was regional editor for many years) and teaching at the Scuola di Specializzazione per l'insegnamento nella Secondaria Superiore (Udine). He collaborated on the history and anthology of literature for three-year high school students La letteratura e noi, under the scientific direction of Romano Luperini.
He has published essays on Trieste's literary culture (Scipio Slataper, Biagio Marin, Giuseppe Picciòla, Virgilio Giotti) in various journals and collective volumes, edited the volume Angelo Vivante e il tramonto della ragione, 2018, and co-edited with Lorenzo Tommasini Voglio morire alla sommità della mia vita: cento anni dalla morte di Scipio Slataper, 2016, both published by the Centro Studi Scipio Slataper of Trieste, of which he is currently President.
