The conference “In Search of Harmony, Serenity, the Ideal of Peace and the Spirit of Brotherhood between Italy and Slovenia from the 18th to the 20th Century” will be held in Gorizia. In the spirit of GO! 2025, the event aims to foster dialogue through history, culture, and music along the shared path of two peoples between the Adriatic and the Alps.
Among the speakers will be Luca G. Manenti, Scientific Director of the Cultural Association “Manlio Cecovini Study Society", who will illustrate how Freemasonry has understood the relations between Italians and Slovenians in Venezia Giulia.
Alongside him, Matevž Košir, Director of the Slovenian State Archives in Ljubljana, will offer his contribution, addressing the same theme presented by Manenti but from a Slovenian perspective. Manenti’s and Košir’s lectures will be delivered in Italian and Slovenian respectively, while translations will be projected on a screen. The dialogue will be moderated by Marco Maria Tosolini, musicologist, composer, and playwright, who will guide the audience through an exchange capable of weaving together different perspectives.
The conference will be enriched by a musical interlude featuring a performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A major, KV 581, entrusted to students of the Jacopo Tomadini Conservatoire in Udine: Mattia Nio De Biasi (clarinet), Giulia Freschi and Hanna Schmidt (violins), Nadežda Perović (viola), and Beatrice Polo (cello).
Open to the public, the event offers a valuable opportunity for encounter and dialogue, in which the voice of Luca G. Manenti and the contributions of the other speakers will provide the audience with a new and shared perspective on the bond between history, culture, and the ideals of peace.
