24 January 2026
The conference “Bernardo Benussi between Rovinj, Koper and Trieste”, delivered by historian Kristjan Knez on Tuesday 20 January 2026 at the Antico Caffè San Marco in Trieste, can be heard on the radio today and tomorrow on RDE Diffusione Europea.
The event was broadcast as part of the programme “Passaggi”, curated by Susanna Isernia, on Friday 23 January at 7.05 pm, with repeat broadcasts on Saturday 24 at 7.05 pm and Sunday 25 at 9.05 am. This offers an opportunity to reach those who were unable to attend in person and to carry the voice of the Caffè San Marco and its cultural encounters beyond the physical space of the venue, entrusting it to the slower, attentive rhythm of radio listening.

The conference took place within the framework of the activities of the cultural association “International Society for the Dissemination of Manlio Cecovini for Historical, Social and Ethical Studies” and was devoted to the history and culture of the eastern Adriatic, with a particular focus on Bernardo Benussi, a key scholar of Istria between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

In his talk, Kristjan Knez retraced Benussi’s intellectual profile and his connections with Rovinj, Koper and Trieste, conveying the significance of a cultural story that crosses borders, languages and traditions, and which continues to speak to the present.
